Seventeen and pregnant, Anneke wanders the sooty mining town. "Too young!" her mother exclaims. "Never did have any sense, that girl!" A few years later, Anneke has a houseful of preschoolers. She treks into the woods with brushes and canvas. Anneke paints, and is transported into another world.
