This volume brings together a series of chapters written by members of the Complutense research group Discourse and Communication in English: Cognitive and Functional Perspectives (DISCOMCOGFUNC). In the spirit of transfer and dissemination of knowledge, our objective in this volume is to provide readers (especially students in the Degree of English Studies) with a series of practical proposals to analyse diverse forms of discourses and texts in English from various perspectives, ranging from critical discourse analysis and pragmatics to forensic linguistics. Each chapter includes a brief theoretical approach to different phenomena such as stance or politeness, together with practical activities and their key for selfcorrection. It is written in a readerfriendly, accessible language to those students who are starting on their journey to discourse studies but can also appeal to those at Master level.
