El gato misterioso is a reader meant for SSR (sustained silent reading). It is able to be read independently by students in the second semester of Spanish, and it can be read with assistance from the first week of Spanish One. The book varies in content from humorous stories to fairy tales to serious stories to scary stories (but not too scary!).
