Fantasy stories have long been dismissed as a minor genre, with many people forgetting that many beloved classic tales--Perseus, Hercules, and Oedipus among them--belong to this genre defined by its worlds in which characters do not distinguish between the real and the fantastical. This anthology presents a broad view of the genre that spans the whole of its development across time and cultures.
