Hieroglyphs is translated as “sacred writing”, technically “sacred art”, as the Ancient Egyptian written language was composed upon different forms of aesthetic mediums, such as carved in stone, written in ink on papyri or on clay tablets. Hieroglyph comes from the Greeks who named the language form.
