Autora estadounidense, Sabaa Tahir creció en el desierto de Mojave junto a su familia, que había emigrado de Pakistán a Reino Unido antes de trasladarse a los Estados Unidos.

Tahir estudió en la Universidad de California, tras lo cual pasó a formar parte del equipo de redacción del Washington Post, donde permaneció cinco años. Después de esta temporada como periodista decidió abandonar el medio y dedicarse a la literatura.

Tahir es conocida para el gran público gracias a su trabajo dentro del campo de la narrativa para jóvenes adultos, siendo Una llama en las cenizas la primera parte de una trilogía y su obra más conocida a nivel internacional. También destaca entre su producción De ira y amor, obra galardonada con los National Book Awards 2022 en la categoría de literatura juvenil.
