P. D. Eastman fue un autor e ilustrador que creó muchos libros para niños, entre ellos Are You My Mother? y Go, Dog. Formado en la Academia Nacional de Diseño, se alistó en el ejército en 1943 y fue asignado a la Unidad de Cine del Cuerpo de Señales, dirigida por Theodor Geisel, quien eventualmente sería conocido en el mundo como Dr. Seuss.
