Asako Yuzuki es una destacada escritora japonesa nacida en Tokio en 1981. Se graduó en Literatura Francesa por la Universidad de Rikkyo. Su carrera literaria despegó al recibir el premio All Yomimono para Nuevos Escritores por su relato "Forget Me, Not Blue". Posteriormente, fue galardonada con el prestigioso premio Yamamoto Shūgorō y ha sido nominada en cinco ocasiones al Premio Naoki, uno de los más importantes de Japón. Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentra "Butter" (2017), una novela de ficción inspirada en hechos reales que aborda temas de género y ha sido reconocida internacionalmente. En 2024, "Butter" fue nombrada Libro del Año por Waterstones en el Reino Unido, consolidando su éxito fuera de Japón. Además, varias de sus novelas han sido adaptadas al cine y la televisión, reflejando su impacto en la cultura contemporánea japonesa.
