Diana Gabaldon (Arizona 1952), escritora estadounidense formada en Zoología (licenciatura), Biología Marina (máster) y Ecología (doctorado), combinó su carrera académica -publicando artículos científicos y relatos humorísticos para Disney- con la creación literaria. En 1991 inició la saga Forastera (Outlander), su primera novela, que mezcla romance histórico, aventura y viajes en el tiempo. La saga ha vendido más de 50 millones de ejemplares, se ha traducido a 38 idiomas y ha recibido premios como el RITA (1992) y el PEN Book Award (2006).
