Andrzej Sapkowski (1948) es un escritor polaco de fantasía heroica, reconocido mundialmente por su saga del brujo Geralt de Rivia. Sus obras están profundamente influenciadas por la cultura y mitología eslavas, así como por las narraciones tradicionales. La saga de Geralt, compuesta por siete volúmenes, incluye títulos emblemáticos como La espada del destino y La sangre de los elfos. Esta serie ha trascendido el ámbito literario, adaptándose al cine (Wiedźmin, 2001), a los videojuegos (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, ganador del GOTY en 2015) y a la serie de Netflix The Witcher, que ha catapultado su popularidad a nivel global.

Sapkowski ha sido galardonado con cinco premios Zajdel, uno de los más prestigiosos en la literatura de ciencia ficción y fantasía en Polonia, por obras como El mal menor (1990), La espada del destino (1992) y Narrenturm (2002). Este último marca el inicio de una trilogía ambientada en las Guerras Husitas del siglo XV, demostrando su versatilidad como autor. Con una narrativa rica y personajes complejos, Sapkowski se ha consolidado como uno de los grandes maestros de la fantasía moderna.
