The Revolution Will Be Publicized is a collection of articles written by Joy Elan from July 2016 until October 2018. The articles were written for three blog sites: Broke-Ass Stuart, Dope Era Magazine, and Panther Times. It is a reflection of what was happening during those two years that Joy Elan had to document, especially as a native of Oakland, California. Joy Elan was the first reporter to write about BBQing While Black at Lake Merritt before the story went viral. There were other topics that she wrote about such as navigating the public school system, fighting gentrification, and community members/activists who were making an impact in the Oakland community.
