Ernest Hemingway, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954, has exerted a lasting influence on fiction in English. His signature prose style, tersely powerful and concealing more than it reveals, arguably reached its apex in this modernist masterpiece. Ernest Hemingway (Oak Park, Illinois, 21 de julio de 1899 – Ketchum, Idaho, 2 de julio de 1961) fue un novelista y periodista estadounidense, Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1954. Combatió en la Primera Guerra Mundial y fue corresponsal en varios conflictos. Sus obras más célebres incluyen El viejo y el mar (Premio Pulitzer), Adiós a las armas y Por quién doblan las campanas, reconocidas por su estilo directo y su influencia en la literatura universal.
