I have canoed on the Allagash, St. John twice, East Penobscot four times, the Moose three times, the Sebois, Machias, and on the St. Croix 15 times, including five solo trips. This book has practical canoeing and whitewater tips, many personal stories, lessons learned from my river experience and how to apply them to daily life, how to create a great trip, camping tips and how to really enjoy nature on the river. It includes hundreds of photos of canoeing, camping and nature in Herb's canoe trips of the last 25 years. The book also includes a journal of Herb's last trip on the St. Croix River, some river poetry, tips on enjoying life in general and how to deal with your inner experience and emotions on the river.
