Dita Kraus nació en Praga en 1929 y es una sobreviviente del Holocausto cuya vida es un testimonio de resiliencia y fortaleza. En 1942, cuando tenía trece años, fue deportada junto a sus padres al gueto de Terezín y posteriormente al campo de exterminio de Auschwitz, donde su padre falleció. Más tarde, Dita y su madre fueron enviadas a realizar trabajos forzados en Alemania y finalmente al campo de concentración de Bergen-Belsen, donde su madre no sobrevivió.

Tras la guerra, Dita se casó con el autor Otto B. Kraus, también sobreviviente de Auschwitz y profesor en el campo de concentración. En 1949 emigraron a Israel, donde trabajaron como maestros y formaron una familia con tres hijos. Desde la muerte de Otto en 2000, Dita vive en Netanya, disfrutando de sus cuatro nietos y cuatro bisnietos.

En 2022 publicó sus memorias, "Yo, Dita Kraus. La Bibliotecaria de Auschwitz", donde relata su extraordinaria historia de supervivencia, amor y esperanza, inspirando a generaciones alrededor del mundo.
