Reseña del libro "Advent Secret (en Inglés)"
Christmas preparations bring Kettle Creek together. Helena Ostrowski's death may tear it apart.Beverly Chase has plenty to do before Christmas: baking for volunteers, helping with the church's charity baskets, and making time for the Thursday Book Club. In her small Ohio town, the holiday season means crowded kitchens, pageant rehearsals, and neighbors lending a hand. It should not mean finding Helena Ostrowski at the bottom of the church's icy rear steps. At first, a tragic fall seems possible. Then the scene raises questions that winter weather cannot answer, and Beverly finds herself helping Chief Lou investigate a murder.Helena's estranged son is an obvious suspect. He argued with his mother, his account has changed, and his presence near the church is difficult to explain. Beverly wants to believe there is more to his story. Wanting to believe him, however, is not the same as knowing he is innocent. With Dot, Margaret, and June beside her, Beverly follows the clues through the same rooms where volunteers are preparing for Christmas. Their years of friendship-and their different professional backgrounds-help them notice what others overlook. But someone they know may be counting on the town's trust to keep the truth out of reach.A request for old church records reveals what Helena was trying to put right: the story of a baby found during a Christmas pageant decades earlier. The accepted account contains troubling inconsistencies. As photographs, present-day evidence, and conflicting memories emerge, the women must work out which secrets explain Helena's death and which merely distract from it.The baskets still need delivering. Families are arriving for the holidays. And a killer has every reason to let suspicion settle on the wrong person.Advent Secret is the second Thursday Book Club Mystery and can be enjoyed on its own. Join four older amateur sleuths for a Christmas cozy mystery with close friendships, a church-community setting, an intricate clue trail, and a compassionate heart.
