Why is Carl, a decorated veteran nervous about returning to his home town and why is Arnie Oxman, a Silver Star veteran homeless? These and other questions arise in the sixteen short fiction topics. Also included are two true stories, one of the writer's early life on a New England farm and the other a very brief history of the local church. The sixteen verses range from tributes to humorous and often include references to the plight of veterans. There is a strong thread of the local, Western Massachusetts, milieu in both several stories and verses for though the writer moved away for his career, he returned to retire in the beautiful foothills of the Berkshires.
