Reseña del libro "Aurora Rising (Life on Pennington Creek) (en Inglés)"
In the heart of Tishomingo, Indian Territory-now the vibrant state of Oklahoma-resides a story that weaves the fabric of truth and fiction, a tapestry anchored by a young Chickasaw woman named Aurora Harrison. Her odyssey, as she rises with the sun each day, unfolds against the canvas of foundational events: the Trail of Tears, life in Indian Territory, paving the way for the birth of Oklahoma. Raised on the beloved tales of her native Chickasaw Nation and her loving parents, Aurora's innocence gradually wanes, exposing a harsher reality where history unveils its unvarnished truths. A friend's remark, "History is a bitch," resonates deeply as Aurora navigates this unforgiving terrain. Pennington Creek, nestled in her heart, carries a tale woven from fact and imagination. The log cabin homes along its banks house newfound companions--Maggie and Silas Pennington, along with her husband Clay Harrison--the families thrive amid the embrace of the creek's serenity. Figures etched in history-William H. Murray, the future governor of Oklahoma, Mary Alice Hearrell, Lawyers Treadwell and Lucas, Chickasaw Governor Douglas Johnston, and other prominent Chickasaw personalities compose a vibrant backdrop to Aurora's journey. Anchored by a fierce dedication to her land, Aurora endeavors to secure her family's place within its embrace. Yet, truth unravels into a complex tapestry of existence. Behind the facade of the new lawyer in town, William H. Murray, and the hostility embodied by Lester Blunt lies a riveting saga of deception and danger. Blunt's sinister agenda threatens Aurora's very existence, endangering her child, husband, and friends, all while aiming to seize her land. As Aurora rises to the hard-core reality of her life, the truth of her family and friends, and the fiction of broken treaties, she dances in an intricate choreography, painting a vivid portrait of a land and its inhabitants. This narrative beckons readers into the intermingling realms of history and imagination, unearthing truths hauntingly still into the 21st century, echoing the haunting echoes of Indian Territory's lingering past within the nation's consciousness.
