The quest for excellent maintenance is a goal pursued by various productive sectors of society and is also a relevant issue in the academic environment. It is no longer satisfactory to carry out good maintenance; there needs to be planning, quality, firmness and cost reduction, with the aim of making it efficient, maximising the conservation of equipment and improving the control of expenditure on assets. One of the ways to achieve greater performance and, consequently, improve the production system, is to implement a maintenance management programme. With this in mind, the aim of this end-of-course work is to evaluate the maintenance function in the asset management process of a sweets manufacturer, in order to identify opportunities for implementing improvements in the company.
