S/ 72,78Paths taken on journeys don't always follow a straight line. From There to Here begins in boyhood in Eastern Kentucky. For many of my friends, growing up
was pretty predictable and linear: Graduate from High School. Get a job at the local steel mill or coal mine. Maybe join the military, fall in love, and get married
somewhere along the way. Growing up in a devout Southern Baptist family appeared to have clearly laid out bench marks ahead for me. However, despite of a lack of academic preparedness through my teen years, my curiosity and openness to different perspectives from back There to over Here followed a different progression.
Getting drafted out of college during the Vietnam War felt like God had made a mistake, nothing at all like I believed "God's plan" was for me. Yet, my experiences in Southeast Asia in the Air Force proved to be pivotal spiritually and psychologically for me. Events, large and small, often had humorous as well as compassionate sides to them. The tapestry of my life today consists of many threads that stretch from Eastern Kentucky Southern Baptistism through the Vietnam War, the Jesus People, Anglicanism, and Buddhist Christianity. Along the way, I got college figured out with roles as a college professor, licensed psychologist, and therapist to veterans.
