It is the main objective of the society to foster a closer connection between scholarship and practice. The societys journal deals with various issues associated with inheritance and gift law which reflect the current state of research on all matters related to inheritance laws. The journals goal is to present both theoretical essays as well as essays based in legal practice and to that end it also contains the proceedings of the annual Bochum Symposium on Inheritance Law. German description: Der Verein "Hereditare Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft fur Erbrecht e.V." verfolgt das Ziel der wissenschaftlichen Erforschung des Erbrechts und des Rechts der lebzeitigen Vermogensnachfolge. Es gehort zu den Hauptanliegen des Vereins, die Verbindung von Wissenschaft und Praxis zu fordern. Das von ihm herausgegebene Jahrbuch fur Erbrecht und Schenkungsrecht will die Vielfalt aller Zugange zu erbrechtlichen Fragestellungen widerspiegeln.
