The fear of the unknown, the unknown future that lies ahead can be frightening for all of us for all of reasons so we don't spend much time thinking about "what if" an accident might happen or even dreaming about the good things that could change our lives, because the future has not yet arrived and so as yet doesn't exist. We all say from time to time after any minor incident or accident it's just as well we can't see into the future or we would never get on with our lives and the result of course would be that we would never want to leave the safety of our homes, while we momentarily forget that many accidents actually do happen in and around our homes anyway. But the strange alternative to "what If" or "not knowing" is actually knowing what the future may hold, this would not be a good alternative for any of us, and would be unbearable and at times terrifying, imagine all the accidents and sometimes the terrible things that happen constantly around us, usually most of the bad things that happen in our lifetimes "we" the luckier ones only ever learn about reading in the national or local newspapers, or on the radio and television.
