Reseña del libro "Poems: Gerard Manley Hopkins - the 1918 collection (The Northlume Library) (en Inglés)"

Almost none of these poems were published in Hopkins's lifetime. When they finally appeared in 1918, they changed the course of English poetry. Priest, convert, and secret genius, Gerard Manley Hopkins wrote a poetry unlike anything before it - packed, sprung, and straining with the "inscape" of the living world. Here are the great hymns of praise - God's Grandeur, The Windhover, Pied Beauty, Spring and Fall - and, at the book's dark heart, the "terrible sonnets" of his last desolate years, wrung from a soul in the grip of despair: Carrion Comfort, No worst, there is none, I wake and feel the fell of dark. This Northlume Library edition presents the complete 1918 collection edited by Robert Bridges, together with Hopkins's own preface on his sprung rhythm - the poems that waited thirty years for a world ready to read them, freshly set behind an original mixed-media cover illustration by JVB Atelier Designs.
