Reseña del libro "Pointless discussions (en Inglés)"

The concept of "gender" has become a central category of analysis in the social sciences and contemporary philosophy . However, its development has not been without tensions, confrontations, and shifts in meaning. This book offers a critical exploration of the contributions of two indispensable figures: the historian Joan Scott and the philosopher Judith Butler. Through a dialogue between their works, the book explores the intersections, differences, and debates that both scholars engage with regarding gender, the body, sex, and identity. From Scott’s historiographical perspective to Butler’s philosophical and deconstructive problematization, this work examines how their approaches have impacted the production of academic knowledge, the legitimacy of gender studies, and contemporary feminist struggles. Rather than offering definitive answers, this work invites reflection on open-ended questions regarding how the concept of gender is constructed by each author and within each historical context, the role of sexual difference, and whether gender can be conceived today as a flexible category that is constantly under review.
