According to the two-source theory the sayings-gospel Q is the second source - besides the gospel of Mark - of the gospels of Matthew and Luke. A milestone in the scientific investigation of Q was the publication of the Critical Edition of Q in the year 2000 by the International Q Project. The Documenta Q volumes supplement the Critical Edition with the presentation and evaluation of the history of research on each section of Q.
