Neil Gaiman (Portchester, Inglaterra, 1960) es uno de los escritores más influyentes y versátiles de la literatura contemporánea, reconocido por transformar el género fantástico con su imaginación única y su aproximación fresca a la narrativa. Desde muy joven, Gaiman mostró una pasión intensa por la lectura, devorando desde los clásicos de Tolkien y C.S. Lewis hasta los cómics, lo que marcó su camino creativo.

Gaiman inició su carrera como periodista y fue influenciado decisivamente por su encuentro con el guionista Alan Moore, lo que le llevó a escribir cómics junto al dibujante Dave McKean, con quien creó la novela gráfica Casos violentos.
