Reseña del libro "Sunshine Bill & Adrift in a Boat (en Inglés)"
This pair of novellas by W.H.G. Kingston (known better as one of the primary translators of the works of Jules Verne into English) share a nautical theme. Both stories deal with the lives and adventures of teenage boy sailors and how they survive the rigors and dangers of the oceans in the mid-to-late 1800s. SUNSHINE BILL Ñ Young Bill's father is killed in an accident and his mother is hard-pressed to provide for the family. He befriends a sea captain who offers him a place on his ship and steady income. He survives hurricanes, falling overboard and other mishaps like sharks, hunger, and French sailors to fight. ADRIFT IN A BOAT - On a picnic a family is joined by a midshipman on leave. He and another boy go for a walk on some rocks but get cut off by rising tides. They try to swim but are rescued by an old man in a boat. They drift until they spot a wrecked ship, but are fired on by some privateers. The old man dies and the boys must struggle to get back home.
