This book is not a manifesto. I am not here to convert you. I am not going to stand on a metaphorical soapbox and tell you that nudism will save your soul and fix your body image and revolutionize your relationship with yourself and the earth and the cosmos, even though (and I say this as a person who has now spent considerable time thinking about it) it kind of does all of those things to varying degrees and I find that annoying because I did not get into nudism to have personal growth experiences, I got into it because it was hot outside and a beach was there and one thing led to another.
The personal growth snuck up on me while I wasn't looking, which is very on brand for the Pacific Northwest, where self-improvement is practically in the water supply.
What I want for you, reading this book, is practical information delivered by someone who has been there, presented in a way that does not take itself too seriously, because the whole enterprise of being a human adult who travels internationally to take off their clothes is inherently a little bit funny and anyone who discusses it with complete solemnity is missing the best part.
The best part is the funny part. The seagull stealing my bread roll. The moment at a Croatian beach when I discovered I had accidentally wandered into the section designated for a very specific subset of naturists who were NOT expecting company and the look on everyone's faces including mine. The time Susan Hasseltree issued a challenge at a resort that resulted in a situation I still cannot fully describe in mixed company and yet I am going to try my very best in Chapter Five.
The funny part is the best part, and the funny part is also, usually, the part where you learn the most useful things.
So. Welcome to The Wandering Nudist. Take off your clothes if you want. Or don't soince this book works either way. Get yourself a coffee. Get yourself a glass of wine. Get comfortable in whatever way is comfortable for you.
