Ulysses (en Inglés) - James Joyce;Anthony Uyl

One ordinary day. One extraordinary journey through the streets, memories, desires, and hidden lives of Dublin.

On June 16, Leopold Bloom leaves his home and begins a wandering passage through the city-attending a funeral, visiting shops and offices, entering pubs and restaurants, crossing paths with friends and strangers, and confronting thoughts of love, mortality, loneliness, desire, and his troubled marriage to Molly. Elsewhere, the young Stephen Dedalus struggles with questions of family, religion, art, identity, and his uncertain future. As their separate journeys unfold, the paths of Bloom and Stephen gradually draw together.

Beneath these seemingly everyday events, James Joyce transforms Dublin into the setting for a modern epic. Echoing the wanderings of Homer’s Odyssey, Ulysses moves through an astonishing range of voices and literary forms, carrying the reader from public streets into the most private reaches of consciousness. Humorous, intimate, provocative, and deeply human, the novel ultimately returns home to Molly Bloom and one of literature’s most celebrated explorations of memory, marriage, longing, and affirmation. Ulysses turns the events of a single day into a vast portrait of human experience.
