Reseña del libro "What men Live by and Other Tales (en Inglés)"

What Men Live By and Other Tales by Leo Tolstoy explores profound themes of compassion, human connection, and existential truths. In the opening story, "What Men Live By," the character Simon, a poor shoemaker, embarks on a journey of moral discovery after encountering a mysterious man in need. Simon struggles with poverty while trying to provide for his family, yet his life changes when he comes across a freezing, naked stranger on his way to buy sheepskins. Initially motivated by fear and self-interest, Simon is moved by his conscience to help the man, offering him his coat despite his own hardships. This act of selflessness marks a pivotal moment in the story, setting the stage for a deeper exploration of love, empathy, and the shared humanity that binds people together. Tolstoy s tale encourages readers to reflect on the importance of kindness and the interconnectedness of all people, revealing universal moral lessons about what truly sustains human life.
