Reseña del libro "When’s Mummy Coming?. A completely gripping and unforgettable story about the Kindertransport during WW2 (en Inglés)"

Germany 1939: "Heinz, take her, please." Trudi’s voice trembled, her hands shaking as she held the baby out to him. Liesel screamed in protest, grabbing a length of her mother’s hair. "Forget what you think of me. She is your baby sister." Tears now rolled down her face as she pleaded with him. "You have to save her... you have to save each other."

England, 1939: In a sleepy village Trudi’s baby and stepsons are taken in by Sally Matthews. Newly married, Sally is missing her husband, who is away training for war, and her days and her home feel empty. But all that changes when she volunteers to look after children from the Kindertransport. She quickly becomes captivated by five-year-old Tomas and his baby sister, Liesel.

Scarred by his time in Dachau and his father’s death, Heinz is a different story. A distant and troubled soul, his attitude makes him difficult to love, and he faces hostility from locals who aren’t as kind-hearted as Sally and her friends and can’t see past his German accent and surly expression. Sally worries for his future, and her worst fears come true when the military police knock at her door.

As the conflict deepens, Sally and the children learn to live with the hand that war has dealt them. Trying with all her might to hold her newfound family together, Sally longs for peace. Will her husband ever come home to her, and if he does, will he be able to accept the children she now loves as her own? And what if Trudi survives and comes to claim them, and Sally loses them forever?

Fans of The Tattooist of Auschwitz, The Choice, and The Girl With No Name will love this heart-wrenchingly touching and beautiful tale of courage and hope in the darkest of times, inspired by the real-life stories of the Kindertransport children.
