It presents far from easily understood subjects - cosmology, astrology, medicine, genetics, and physics - in clear and accessible language, accompanying the reader on a journey of exploration into those "dark years". The novel is the result of years of analysis of cosmogonic myths whose detailed descriptions and precise allusions record facts and events experienced by primeval man between eighty to fifty thousand years ago. The narrator, the wise Miscuati, explains the determining role played by Collective Memory as the true engine of our progress and development, emphasizing the key role played by a knowledge of the past in the genesis of present and future behavior and solutions, and the importance of "respect for others" and "individual freedom" as essential conditions for the growth of a group and its affirmation.
